定命

じょうみょう【定命】

【仏教】 one's (predestined) span of life; the normal length of life. [＝じゅみょう]

●定命とあきらめる accept one's approaching death as one's lot.

●定命で死ぬ die a natural death; die in one's bed.

ていめい【定命】

1 〔天により定められた運命〕 fate; destiny. [＝てんめい 1]

2 〔寿命〕 one's destined span; the term of life allotted to one.
